Sue Markgraf

Sue Markgraf is an award-winning print reporter, editor and media relations practitioner with 26 years in media and corporate communications, including for the dairy agriculture and telecommunications industries. She has extensive experience in strategic team leadership, media communications and lifestyle reporting, issues and reputation management and media training for education, not-for-profit, corporate and agency businesses.
As the former manager of public relations at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Sue created and managed proactive, full-scale external media and public relations programs, contributing to millions of consumer impressions designed to increase awareness and drive attendance. She built the Garden’s award-winning public relations team from two full-time professionals to five and provided the “face” of the Garden as spokesperson on radio, television and in print. Under her direction, media coverage of the Garden grew from minimal to international in just five years.
Sue is a founder of Chicago Parks and Gardens, a network of public relations professionals dedicated to increasing national awareness of Chicago as a “green” tourism destination. She serves on the Publicity Club of Chicago executive board and co-chairs the annual Golden Trumpet Awards. A lifelong journalist, she has written articles for leading newspapers and national publications and has guest-taught editing and writing to teens and adults.
