Ever since hearing William McDonough’s TED speech on “Cradle to Cradle Living” – his manifesto on the transformation of human industry through ecologically intelligent design – Matt Markgraf has been interested to learn more and become part of a sustainable global future through green issues and a green lifestyle.
Matt is a graduate of Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, where he received his bachelor’s degree in theater in May 2008. He is now “back for more” at Murray State pursuing his master’s degree in creative writing for young people. Matt believes if he can reach out to young people, they will grow up reaching for a more sustainable future.
Matt’s professional experience includes broadcasting communications and Web site development through his internship at the NPR affiliate, WKMS (91.3 FM). He joined WKMS as a news assistant in charge of Web content and development in January 2007, where he re-designed the online newsroom from a basic template to a customized display, optimizing access to regional news and features, and earning him second place in the 2008 Kentucky Associated Press Awards. He hosts his own late-night program, “Weekend Energy” and produces features and commentaries.
“In science fiction, the future is often painted in shades of gray: cold and barren. Working with the GreenMark Public Relations®, Inc. team, I see that depiction of the future for what it is: fiction; because the fact is, our clients are the ones painting it green: playful and full of life.” - Matt Markgraf
