The Lurie Garden

The Lurie Garden at Millennium Park is a year-round must-see destination for Chicago area residents and tourists. The five-acre, four-season garden provides a respite from city life and features a unique combination of spatial structure, plantings and lighting. The garden is designed to pay homage to Chicago’s transformation from flat marshland to an innovative green city, or “Urbs in Horto” (City in a Garden). Rich in symbolism, The Lurie Garden offers a varied sensory experience throughout all four seasons, where there’s something new to see every day whether in spring, summer, fall or winter. Plant highlights range from prairie smoke and meadow sage in spring to wood aster and majestic grasses in fall and winter. Summer brings a variety of favorites, including ornamental onion, salvia, hyssop, blazing stars and more.
