Michelle Martin portrays an Army laundress from the 1840s at the Fort Scott National Historic Site in Kansas. A historian, actress and 19th century consultant, Martin currently works closely on projects with Bill Kurtis. She and Kurtis will bring history to life at a theatrical presentation at the Civil War Museum in Kenosha, Wis., on June 12. Martin and Kurtis will also sign copies of their co-authored limited edition The Prairie Table Cookbook at the event, which kick’s off the museum’s A Salute to Freedom weekend.
