Mike Weber joins Chalet’s Garden Shop as Manager Mike Weber has over 20 years retail experience, most recently as visual merchandising manager for the Container Store in Chicago, Ill. Prior to that, he was store manager for Bed Bath & Beyond and Hobby Lobby, and a district manager for Frank’s Nursery and Crafts - all in the Chicago area. Throughout high school and college, he worked for a nursery and took horticultural management and floral design classes. |

Gloria Reese joins Chalet’s Garden Shop as Asst. Manager Gloria Reese has been serving Chalet customers in the nursery’s annuals section for the past two seasons. She has 25 years experience as an external sales representative of specialty products, a retail consultant and a manager for Marshall Fields. As a member of Fields’ management team for more than 9 years, she was instrumental in starting the Woodfield store’s Christmas Shop and the West Dundee store’s Gourmet Food Shop. |

Chalet Receives PLANET Awards - Lake Forest Residence Chalet’s Landscape Division has received a Grand and a Merit Environmental Improvement Award from PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) for its residential landscape design/construction of homes in Lake Forest, Ill., and Wilmette, Ill. Chalet’s Grand award winner in Lake Forest is a formal, structured and manicured landscape reflecting the beauty, elegance and permanence of a period Italianesque villa. Beyond the front entryway, garden visitors are greeted by a three-tiered, limestone fountain surrounded by a large semicircular pergola with hand-carved limestone columns and a sunken garden. |

Chalet Receives PLANET Awards - Wilmette Residence Chalet’s Landscape Division has received a Grand and a Merit Environmental Improvement Award from PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) for its residential landscape design/construction of homes in Lake Forest, Ill., and Wilmette, Ill. Chalet’s Merit Award winner is a stately English Tudor in Wilmette, complemented by a formal, manicured and symmetrical garden. Dense yew and green Velvet boxwood hedges line the front foundation and are meticulously trimmed while ‘Tina’ crabapples flank the front entry, left natural to contrast with the structured landscape. As visitors travel down a bluestone walk from the brick driveway to the pool area, a diverse and colorful array of Daphne, rhododendron, viburnum and astilbe catch the eye. |

Invincibelle Spirit Be one of only 25 people in the Midwest this year to own INVINCIBELLETM ‘Spirit’ - the Midwest’s first and only pink ‘Annabelle’-type hydrangea. Twenty-five of these plants, wwhich are not available to the public until 2010, will be raffled at the Chalet Garden Faire, May 2-3, in Wilmette, Ill. The plant has all the winning characteristics of the white variety, including being easy to grow, reliable, heat tolerant and hardy, but with masses of lacy pink mop heads that re-bloom from summer to fall.
