NFMT 2009 recap in Baltimore

The National Facilities Management and Technology (NFMT) 2009 Trade Event opened March 10-12 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland. Co-presented by Trade Press Media Group, Inc. (Milwaukee, Wis.) and ROC Exhibitions (Lisle, Ill.), NFMT 2009 was the economical way for facility and building operating management professionals from across the country to participate in networking opportunities. This included the National Facilities Management & Technology Conference & Expo, maintenance Solutions Expo, GreenTech and Safe Building Expo. With more than 500 trade show exhibitors and 12 educational conference tracks, NFMT is the country’s premiere event dedicated to professionals responsible for the management, operations, design and construction of commercial and institutional buildings. The 2008 show drew more than 5,000 attendees.

Call for fire and safety professionals

On Dec. 8, 2008, SecurityMagazine.com posted a calling for end-users and systems integrators with live safety expertise to be involved in the 15th Annual NFPA America’s Fire & Security Expo 2009, which will be held July 28-30 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and ROC Exhibitions, Inc. invite industry professionals, innovators and individuals who have found a better way to do their jobs. Suggested topics include access control, building automation, alarm systems/suppression, electrical safety, and fire and emergency services. More than 4,000 professionals attended in 2008 from the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. AFSE offers unique international networking opportunities, as many as 50 education seminars, workshops, certification seminars, and a culturally rich marketplace featuring more than 250 exhibitors.

Industry professionals should submit their presentation in the form of a case study, story or best practice as it relates to premise security, safety or fire protection.

A Preview of Mexitrónica 2008

SMT previewed Mexitrónica, Oct. 21-23, 2008, at Expo Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (featured online, Oct. 13, 2008). It’s in its 14th year and drew more than 6,000 attendees in 2007. Medical Marijuana Critiqued at Police Expo

Travis Morse, of The Journal-Standard features the 8th annual Midwest Security & Police Conference/Expo (produced by ROC Exhibitions, Inc.) in the Aug. 8, 2008 article “Police Notebook: Medical marijuana topic of expo.” Drug critic Calvina Fay gave a presentation at the expo highlighting the tactics used by different groups to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. She says such a movement is ongoing in the Illinois State Congress and bills are being debated in committee. “Overall,” said Fay, “the legalization of medical marijuana may end up hurting patients who would benefit from ‘legitimate medicine.’” Fay is the executive director of Drug Free America Foundation, Inc.

NFPA World Safety Conference Coverage

ROC Exhibitions, Inc. recently held its 2008 NFPA World Safety Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, which received significant articles and calendar listings in 46 trade publications including Las Vegas Business Press and Exhibitor’s Daily. The latter features an article on the conference’s spotlighting of evacuation procedures - particularly in regards to equal access for the disabled. Click here to view the article. There was coverage by both the Univision and Telemundo Las Vegas affiliates as well as the local news-talk station, KDWN-AM, featuring interviews and exhibit floor overviews. The event ran from June 2 to June 5, 2008 at the Mandalay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
